Tonight we had a guest speaker Dan Himblberg come to talk to our Crew for our FOS (Friends of Scouting) presentation.  (By the way, we are the first unit in the district to have our presentation!) 

Currently to join our Crew you pay $40.00 in dues a year.  $15.00 of this goes to National for your registration.  The other $25.00 goes to the Crew to help with operating expenses.  None of it goes to our local council.

FOS helps the local council by providing:

  • Camperships for youth to attend summer camp
  • Supply adult leaders with training and support
  • Provide accident and liability insurance coverage
  • Help keep camp fees low and affordable
  • Makes scouting available to youth in the urban core

The Heart of America Council estimates that they will invest $149.00 per youth this year.  They would like us to consider giving at the Family level of $149.00.  

Every unit who makes their goal receives free "recognition" so, anytime a youth earns a recognition the unit would get the medals, etc free.  Which potential saves your unit $$...

The council sets two goals for each unit.  A basic goal and a stretch goal.

Last year we made our STRECH GOAL.  That is where we would like to be again this year!!! 

Our basic goal for the CREW is $902.00 and our stretch goal is $984.00.

TONIGHT at the parents meeting we have already raised $747.00 toward this goal.  Leaving us with only $237.00 left to go.  

Youth ---Danny pointed out that many of you had summer jobs...and that you too can help make this goal...by making donations themselves and encouraging their parents to help out!!

Tonight your youth received a form to give to you and I have attached the FOS brochure and card to this email.

I would like to thank the families who attended the presentation this evening and who helped us get this close!!! You are awesome!!! 

However, there were many families who were unable to attend and I know that with the number of families we have who were not represented tonight that we can easily make our goal....we just need your help!! 

Please consider filling out this card with your donation.  It can be paid now or in several payments.  You can either return the card to me or directly to the Council office --address on the brochure.  Just note that your unit is 2085.
